Obituary of Willie Sylvester Smith
DALZELL- A graveside service for Mr. Willie Sylvester Smith, 62, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Anthony Taylor will officiate.
Mr. Smith, who was affectionally called “Hollywood,” was born on November 1, 1960 to the late Freddie Smith, Sr. and Mildred Lee Smith, in Rembert, S.C. Willie was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Rembert, where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a construction worker for many years with New Millennium Construction and Sammy Sanders Construction of Sumter, S.C.
Willie enjoyed listening to music and being around his family and friends, especially his brothers, being his authentic self. He was a fun-loving person that enjoyed cracking a good joke. He had a kind and gentle spirit.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving mother, Mildred Smith of the home; his six brothers, Freddie Smith, Jr. of North Dakota; Calvin Smith (Lisa) of Dalzell; Woodrow Smith of Dazell; Alonzo Smith (Aretha) of Rembert, Paul Smith (Tina) of Dalzell; Troy Smith of Dalzell; two special cousins, Eugene Lee of Dalzell and Christopher Lee of Georgia both raised as brothers in the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Smith, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Willie and Sally Lee; his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Marie Smith; and a nephew, Rubin Alonzo Smith, Jr.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Agape Hospice of Sumter for the care and compassion given to Willie.
