Obituary of Billy McGuire, Jr.
William Paul “Billy” McGuire, Jr., 65, of Walterboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late William James and Frances Atkinson McGuire. Billy was a member of Camden First Church of the Nazarene. Billy loved music, especially Country and Christmas music. He would rock and smile and laugh. It didn’t take much to make him happy. Some of his favorite things included his hat, soccer boppers, (which you would have to pretend to blow up for him), a stethoscope, and bubbles. No one could blow bubbles like he could. He was always content. Billy enjoyed animals, watching wrestling, eating Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs straight from the pot, Mountain Dew (he’d get two any time someone went to the store), and putting ketchup on everything. Billy overcame so many obstacles in his life, proving doctors wrong time and again and living his life to the fullest. He always knew when someone was upset or sad and could cheer anyone up with his infectious laugh. Billy also loved his overalls and owned a pair in every color imaginable. He was often stubborn; but was always a gentle soul who loved his friends and family deeply. Those who knew him best will cherish his memory and keep him close to their hearts.
Billy is survived by his sister, Cathy Brown (Gene); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his siblings, Stanley Pigott and Betty Brewer.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, October 30, 2023, in Wells Cemetery, Elliott, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camden First Church of the Nazarene, 2276 Jefferson Davis Highway, Camden, SC 29020.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Forest Circle Community Residence for their compassionate care.
