Obituary of Stephen Michael Farnham
Stephen Michael Farnham, 74, of Elgin, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Born in Rutland, VT, he was the son of the late Lucius A. and Beverly Miller Farnham and the husband of Linda R. Farnham. Stephen retired from the US Air Force and then pursued careers in both truck driving and school bus driving. He drove buses for the Kershaw County School District for many years. In his free time, Stephen enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a kind person with a heart for serving his community. Stephen never met a stranger and was well-known for his story telling abilities. Above all, he loved his family dearly and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, Stephen is survived by his children, Stephen Michael Farnham, II, Kimberly Branham (Jack), and Victoria Hurley (Michael); his grandchildren, Clayton Mobley, Anastasia Farnham, Andrew Farnham, Brianna Mobley, Gage Mobley, Autumn Rose Johnson, Chloe Johnson, and Kayri Hurley; great-grandchildren, Nathan’el Mobley and Skylar Hutto; siblings, Mona Snyder, Lucia Mackenzie, Doug Farnham, and Debbie Farnham; family friend, Kathy Rabon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his sister, Bethany Thompson; and his granddaughter, Cheyenne Mobley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Church In The Garden, Lugoff, officiated by Rev. Gene Brown. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Burial with military honors will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
