Obituary of Bobby Jones

CAMDEN – A graveside service to celebrate the life of Robert Howell “Bobby” Jones, 71, will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Theil-Meyer Pet adoption Center.

Bobby passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023.  Born in Camden, he was the son of the late James David Jones, Sr. and Jacqueline Jeffcoat Jones.  He was a partner and managed Gag’s Liquor Store.  His passion in life was dog training and he was a member of the Palmetto Retriever Club where he served on the board and was President of the board from 2006-2009.  He enjoyed Judging dog competitions and had reached AKC Senior Level Judge.

Bobby was an avid musician who had a love for jazz music.  He was an accomplished saxophonist and flutist. He was known for caring and loving spirit, laughing and storytelling.

Surviving are his faithful dog, Ice; son, Robert Howell “B.J.” Jones II; granddaughter, Breyannah Susan Jones; brother, Jimmy Jones (Mara) of Lugoff; sister, Betty Jones Hood (Ernie) of Spartanburg; nephew & buddy, Jamey Jones (Jessica); special uncle, Robert S. “Bobby” Jones of Camden; bonus sister, Barbara Ann Lyles (Jason) of Camden; extended family, Angie Self (Wayne) of Camden. He loved laughing and spending time with his nieces and nephews, Robby Self, Hunter Self, Ashley Raley, Katlyn Lyles, Nikki Corl, Joanne Cook, Taylor Jones, Ashlyn Jones, Jonthan Jones, Avery Williams, Robert Jay, Jessica Smith, Wayne (Bubba) Smith.  He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Jones.
