Obituary of Delbert R. Hayden
ELGIN- A funeral service for Delbert Roscoe Hayden, 78, with Masonic Rites will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Dulaney will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. A burial with military honors will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
Mr. Hayden passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born in Vincennes, IN, he was a son of the late Delbert Marion Hayden and Mary Lee Westfall Hayden. Mr. Hayden served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Army as a 1SG. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Lugoff Masonic Lodge 411, and the Camden Shriners. Delbert was very active in the Lugoff Masonic Lodge, serving as Secretary, and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a York Rite Knights Templar Mason. He enjoyed traveling and tractors, especially John Deere.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Linda Hayden; sons, Timothy J. “T.J.” Hayden of Ringgold, GA, Delbert “Ben” Hayden (Katie) of Columbia; grandchildren, Sara Barrett, Kimber Barrett, George Barrett, Addison Hayden; brother, Kent Hayden (Karen) of Otwell, IN; sister, Joyce Highsmith (Darrell) of Vincennes, IN; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Mike Hayden.
