Obituary of Jerry R. McGinnis

LUGOFF – Funeral service for Jerry Ray McGinnis, 72, will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to  Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324, New York, N.Y.  10087.

Mr. McGinnis passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024.  Jerry was born March 27, 1951 and raised by John and Kate Goldman, Margaret McGinnis Cook and Henry and Patty Baughman. Surviving are his wife, Betty Truesdale McGinnis; three daughters, Deborah Nicole Hobbs (James) of Camden, Melissa Dawn McGinnis of Columbia and Kristian Amanda Hunter (Christopher) of Elgin; four granddaughters, Ashley Hobbs, Cassidy Hobbs, Lillian Hunter and Madison McGinnis; siblings, Karen Rowe, Scott Rowe, and William Rowe, Jr. He was predeceased by his biological mother, Erma Rowe McGinnis

    Jerry retired from DuPont and Invista after 41 years.  He requested that all friends that prayed and supported him during this fight with this disease be thanked. Jerry was a wonderful husband and father to many children during the years that needed a home of love. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.
