How are family first met Sammie My brother Jim and his wife Marilyn bought their first house on Stewart St in Colonie, NY. Jim was putting a second story on his house. New people had just moved in across the street but they hadn’t met them yet. There was a huge storm that night and the wind blew the tarp off the house and the rain was coming in. He climbed on the roof and was trying to fix it by himself, then he looked over in the pitch dark he saw a big smile and two bright eyes on the roof with him. It was Sammie the new neighbor from across the street, who came to help. They became fast friends from that day forward. Our families became good friends and all the kids called my mother Granny Hig, which she loved. Sammie was a wonderful man and a good friend to all. God Blessed us with his friendship.
