Obituary of Anita Lory Stone Horton

Anita Lory Stone Horton, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Anderson County, SC on March 08, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Doris Scroggs Stone. Mrs. Anita was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Camden, SC, where she was also a pre-school teacher. She continued keeping children in her home for many years. She enjoyed reading, NASCAR, cooking on Sundays but above all else being with her beloved family. She loved crocheting and won many awards at the South Carolina State fair and was also nominated by her grandchildren for Mamaw of the year award.

Left to cherish her memories is her son, Charles “Doug” Brewer Horton, Jr. (Linda) of Cassatt; brother, Johnny Stone (Susan) of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Brewer Horton III (Lindsey) of Camden and Heather Moseley (Jeremy) of Chapin; great-grandchildren, Charles “Charlie” Brewer Horton IV of Camden, Savannah Paige Horton of Camden, Carter Reese Moseley of Chapin, and Rhett Baxter Moseley of Chapin; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Charles Brewer Horton, Sr.; and brother, Alfred Cecil Stone.

A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 05, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Camden, SC. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The Rev. Gene Stokes and the Rev. David Brannen will officiate.
