Obituary of Mary Ann McCaskill Brown

CASSATT – Funeral service for Mary Ann McCaskill Brown, 81, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Cassatt Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International or Cassatt Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mrs. Brown passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, April 1, 2024.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Annie B. Christmas Anderson.  Prior to her entrepreneurial pursuits as the owner and operator of McCaskill Grocery in Cassatt, she held a position at Kendall Mill in Camden.  Mrs. Brown was a dedicated member of the Wateree Mothers Club and an active participant in Cassatt Baptist Church.  Known for vibrant personality, faithfulness, and ability to spread love and joy to those around her.

Surviving are her sons, Charlie Kenneth McCaskill (Wendy) and Joseph Wesley McCaskill (Kim); daughter, Melissa Ann McCaskill Cassady (Kent); sister, Thelma Anderson Bodiford; brother, David Richard Anderson; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph K. McCaskill; her second husband, Robert Brown; brothers, Joseph Furman Anderson, James Jart Anderson, and George Walter Anderson; and sisters, Bobbie Jo McCaskill and Marion Frances Jones.
