Obituary of Jerry W. Branham
ELGIN – Funeral Service for Jerry Woodie Branham, 83, will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Ridgeway Ward. Bishop Brad Moore will be presiding. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Branham, husband of the late Peggy Lois Kelly Branham passed away at home surrounded by his family and caregivers on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He served in many capacities in state government, retiring in 1991 as the Director of the South Carolina Budget and Control Board after receiving the Order of the Palmetto twice.
Mr. Branham was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served twice as a Bishop, was on the Stake High Council, served a mission in the Great Lakes Mission, and also served with his wife as an employment specialist. Mr. Branham was a passionate member of the South Carolina Indian Development Council. He enjoyed working in his yard but what gave Mr. Branham the most joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Susan Branham Alder (Blake) of Elgin and Tracy Branham Crosby (Chris) of Elgin; son, Anthony Wayne Branham (Stacy) of Elgin; sisters, Polly Langley of Ridgeway and Myrtle Gerald of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Morganne Alder, Samuel Crosby (Porsche), Lindsay Branham, Mackenzie Alder, and Coulter Branham; and great-grandchildren, Maebre Crosby and Paisley Crosby. He was predeceased by sisters, Lila Campbell, Sarah Galloway and Inez Malloch; and brothers, Julian Branham and Robert Marion Branham.
