LUGOFF – Funeral service for Joann Lathan, 68, will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Tri-County. Mrs. Lathan passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Homer, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lucille Whitehead Nation. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, James H. Lathan; son, James H. Lathan Jr. (Gina) of Lugoff; daughter, Susan Lathan Elliott (Kris) of Camden; sisters, Debra Mason and Patsy Hudgins both of Maysville, GA, Janice Lichlyter of Anderson, SC, and Joyce Hovater of Mena, AR; brothers, Donald Nation of Maysville, GA and Ricky Nation of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Ayzia Taylor and Brett Elliott; and great-grandchildren, Ainzley and McKenna Taylor. She is predeceased by brothers John Nation, Bill Nation and Dennis Nation all of Commerce, GA; and sister, Linda Allison of Lula, GA.
