Obituary of Bruce Allen Catoe

Bruce Allen Catoe, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Born in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late John Woodrow Catoe, Sr. and Novela Winifred Catoe. Mr. Catoe retired from Thompson Construction company in 2022 where he traveled for many years as a welder, Forman and Pipe Superintendent. Bruce enjoyed Fishing, Camping, Woodwork, NASCAR, and of course the Carolina Gamecocks. The biggest part of his heart was always his children and grandchildren and watching all they have accomplished. Since retiring even though his body was sick, you would never guess by all the work he put into his homestead for his family; from laying pavers, building decks to putting tin over the patio, and clearing 260 pine trees off the land one by one right by himself making their home a dream place for everyone to meet and remember all his hard work. He fought stage 4 cancer for 7 years until the last few things were finally finished completing all the projects he started. 

Left to cherish his memories is his Wife of 33 years, Karen Lee McCaskill Catoe; children, Ashley Catoe, Chris Catoe, Dustin Catoe (Kayla), Erica Catoe, Jamie Barker (Gina) and Shon Barker; sisters, Brenda Peters, Jane West and Sue Hornsby (Gene); 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Catoe was predeceased by his daughter, Brooke Catoe and brother, John "Johnny" Woodrow Catoe. 

Services for Mr. Catoe will be held at a later date.
