Obituary of Melvin Lemar Crum

Melvin Lemar Crum, 64, was called home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC, on April 7, 1960, he was the son of the late Eugene and Elizabeth Brunson Crum. He was a member of Lighthouse For Christ Ministries in Camden, SC. Mr. Crum was known for his loving, caring demeanor, dancing, laughing, joking and his outgoing attitude towards life. He enjoyed eating good food and watching his movies. But above all else he loved spending as much time as he could with his adoring children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed amongst them.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, of 34 years, Angela Rivers Crum; children, Marcus Rivers of Camden, SC, Tangela Crum of Fayetteville, NC, Myron Jackson of Columbia, SC and Cynthia Rubin (Jamar) of Camden, SC; sisters, Georgia Greene of Columbia, SC and Martha Crum of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Adrian Rivers of Camden, SC, Tanaija Baldwin of Fayetteville, NC, Ka’Mya Rivers of Sumter, SC, Brennen Williams of Camden, SC, Mason Napper of Columbia, SC, Morgan Napper of Columbia, SC, Tyler Mobley of Camden, SC, Journee McMullen of Fayetteville, NC and Jaice Rubin of Camden, SC; mother-in-law, Janie Rivers; sisters-in-law, Brenda Robinson; special niece, Hope Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Elizabeth Brunson Crum; father-in-law, Herbert Rivers; daughter, Nykesha Hollins; and sister-in-law, Cynthia Stuckey; brother-in-law, Harold Robinson.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Crum will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at Lighthouse For Christ Ministries in Camden, SC. A public viewing will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Belton J. Goodwin will be officiating the service. The family would like to request anyone wishing to visit the family home before the public viewing and funeral come Thursday from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Sunday, 2:00 – 6:00 pm.
