Obituary of Eliza Rebecca Wilson Lail

Ridgeway – Graveside service for Eliza Rebecca Wilson Lail, 80, will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Centerville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mrs. Lail passed away at home on Monday, September 30, 2024.  Born in Columbia, S.C. on June 16, 1944.  She retired from Bank of Ridgeway where she worked for 30 years.  She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Mrs. Lail was known for her wonderful Red Velvet Cakes.  She never met a stranger and spent many days in shops and stores in town chatting with friends and family.  Her favorite things were getting her hair done, most recently by Mrs. Gloria.  She enjoyed looking nice and cooking good food for her family.  Her two girls, Missy and Erica, were her pride and joy, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her favorites.  She could be found on any day surrounded by grandkids teaching, cooking, and cake making.  Her smile was infections and she always had a kind word to anyone she met.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Grady Eugene Lail; daughters, Melissa Hagood and Erica Mattox (Allen); sister, Elizabeth Miles; brother, Bobby Wilson; grandchildren John Franklin Hagood III (Kennedy), Rebecca Ann Hagood (Kolton Kaiser), Shelby Hagood Stewart (Ryan), Austin Miles Mattox, and Dillon Lail Mattox; and great-granddaughters, Raylan Blake Hagood, Haylee Mae Stewart, Lainey Faith Hagood, Zoey Kate Stewart, Konnor Matthew Kaiser and a baby boy in January.  She was predeceased by a brother, Hyram Wilson; and son-in-law, Frank Hagood.
