Obituary of Jackie Keith Counts

Columbia, S.C. – Jackie Keith Counts passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 21, 2024 surrounded by family.

He was the son of the late Mary Counts Jefferson and was also reared by his grandmother, the late Louella Counts, and he loved both of them with all his heart.

He was educated in the Kershaw County School System. He was a United States marine veteran and was a member of Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church.

Jackie loved fishing and all sports, especially football. He was a construction worker and traveled out of state working with his uncle Joe. He retired as an over-the-road truck driver.

He is survived by his brother, Derrick McKenzie; special aunt, Janie Belton; uncle, Joe Counts (Catherine); special friend, Myra Moorer; special cousins, Bessie Addison, David Stover, Yvonne Smith; a host of cousins that looked to him as uncle, Joey Counts, Darryl Counts, Lenora Miles, Larry Addison, Lester Addison, Patricia Roseborough, Clifford Gripper; and special friends, David Seigler, John Goodwin and Annetta Grant.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Counts will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Sinai AME Church in Elgin, SC. With burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday, October 25, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC.
