Obituary of Merrie Poston Hyman

Merrie Poston Hyman, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Felder Poston and Jessie Mae Poston. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and working in her yard. Her greatest joy came from spending time with and taking care of her family.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Monroe Hyman (Kim) of NC, Felder Todd Hyman of Elgin, SC; daughter, Martha Hyman Pullum of North Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Rita Bell (Guy) of Lamar, SC; Nell Floyd (William) of Olanta, SC, Brenda Cain of Pamplico, SC and Kathy Jackson (Steve) of Pageland, SC; sister-in-law, Linda Poston of Pamplico, SC, Robin Poston of Scranton, SC, and Francis Hyman of Batesburg, SC; grandchildren, Katelyn Harrelson (Keaton), Allison Cassady (Tripp), Emily Jones (Cameron), Kala Carter, Ashley Parker (Wesley); 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Jimmie Monroe Hyman; brothers Hubert Poston, Stephen Poston; and sister, Carol Poston.

The family would like to thank McLeod Hospice for the love, care, and support they provided.

A memorial service honoring the life of Ms. Hyman will be held Monday, November 04, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. An inurnment will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 05, 2024 at 10:00 am. The Rev. Todd Horton will be officiating.
