RIDGEWAY – Ms. Lois Hoffman Best, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was lovingly cared for by her family, friends and cherished cats. Born in Bamberg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Leland Carson and Vinelle Hightower Hoffman. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Tyra and Larry Gunn of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. and Terry and Johnny Williams of Ridgeway; sister, Nell Hoffman Roberts; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Mabel Sandifer Folk and Barbara Hoffman Robinson; and brothers, Leland C. Hoffman Jr. and L. Harold Sandifer. Lois was a member of the Eastern Star and North Trenholm Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and retired from Providence Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the Walter M.
