Obituary of Rachel T. Turner
LEXINGTON-Rachel left her earthly home to meet her Heavenly Father on the morning of January 20, 2025.
She was the devoted wife of John Wayne Turner, daughter of Hope and Dessie Turner. She was the last surviving sibling of Felicia, Vernal, Mary, Ned, Otis, Eunice and Shirley. She was the beloved mother of Connie Cook, Ginger Smoak (favorite SIL Charlie), Tammy Turner, and Joel (Angie, Daughter in love). Her cherished grandchildren, Olivia (deceased), Matthew, Hannah, Maggie, Clint, Rachel Lynn, Jared, Sarah Grace, Natalie, Quinton, and Rachel. She was called "Aunt Nanny" by her great grands, Taylor (deceased), Zach, Madison, Aydan, Addison, Beckham, Hudson Luke, Conner, Jacob, Laila, Carson and Easton. Many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Rachel was a woman of many talents, notably, her green thumb and anything to do with a "needle and thread". She could make any plant love her and she could grow anything. Her talent with a needle and thread were legendary. If she loved you, you would be blessed with one of her many creations.
She was a longtime member of Harvest Baptist Church, Lugoff. After her move to Lexington she moved her membership to Calvary Baptist Church of W Main Street Lexington. She was blessed with her church families, and considered it an honor to be with her friends from both congregations who rallied around her and were a wonderful source of love and devotion.
Her funeral will be at Harvest Baptist Church, 281 Wildwood Lane, Lugoff, SC on Friday, January 24th at 11:00 am officiated by Pastors Bill Delaney of Harvest Baptist and Steve Cummins of Calvary Baptist. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church. A lunch will be provided following the service in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial of ashes will take place in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Calvary Baptist in her memory.
The family would like to thank all her friends and family for their outpouring of love and devotion to our Mama. We are forever grateful to each of you. To the angels at MSA Hospice, your care and love and patience was the most wonderful thing for her final days.
John 14: 2-3
Jesus said "There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I'm going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready I will come and get you so that you will always be with me where I am".
