ELGIN – A memorial service for Mamie Byrd Palmer, 93, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Dulaney will officiate. Memorials may be made to Harvest Baptist Church. Mrs. Palmer, wife of the late Joseph palmer, died Monday, August 18, 2014. Born in Benson, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Everett and Cora Holly Byrd. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Surviving are her daughters, Helen Barger, Fran Dixon and her husband, John, and Darlene Royals and her husband, Wayne; sons, Howard Stewart and his wife, Barbara, and Owen Stewart and his wife, Selena; brothers, Cody Byrd and Paul Byrd; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 9 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Donnie Stewart; and a son-in-law, Bill Barger.
