LUGOFF - Funeral service for Molly Wood Carey, 72, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Todd Horton will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078. Mrs. Carey died Thursday, March 06, 2008. Born in Johnston County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Lester Wood and Estelle Wood Bales, and a step-daughter to the late Paul Bales. She was a member of Springvale Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Win Some Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John L. Carey of Lugoff; daughter, Katherine Bairefoot of Lugoff; sons, James David Carey of Lugoff, and Ricky A. Carey of Lugoff; step-brother, Thomas Bales of Georgia; grandchildren, Amanda Taylor (Frank) of Lugoff, Nikki Bairefoot of Lugoff, Brittany Carey of Lugoff, and Cody Carey of Lugoff; great-granddaughters, Savannah Taylor of Lugoff, and Madison Keels of Lugoff ;special life-long family friend, Zillie Barrett of Lugoff. She was predeceased by her sister Lavern McCauley and brothers, Leland Wood and Sam Wood all of Georgia.
