ELGIN - Joann Stockman Peake, 69, passed to her heavenly home on November 19th, 2014 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace to be with the Lord. Joann, or Josie as most folks knew her, was born to the late William and Francis Stockman in Tookiedoo, S.C. on December 16th, 1944. She was deeply involved in the church, her faith and family until the time of her illness overtook her capability to continue. She was a devoted mother and wife; living to server other's needs above her own for her entire life. Her love for others was only eclipsed by her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Joann was blessed with a beautiful and loving family. She married Furman G. Peake on September 28th, 1963 and recently celebrated her 51st marriage anniversary. Joann raised her son, with care, love, grace and compassion. She devoted love to her husband, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister, as well as her nephews and a niece. Josie is survived by her husband, Furman Peake; her son, Chris Peake (Jo Carol); her sister, Gail Peake (Gene); nephews, Tracy and Josh and their families; her granddaughters, Jessica Anne Bassett (Ward), Amanada Nicole Winters (Brian) and Kaytie Lynn Peake; her great-granddaughter, Abigail Leigh Winters; and great-grandsons, Kellen Reed Winters and Braylen Archer Bassett. She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Daddy Bill) and Frances (Nanny) Stockman. Graveside service will be held on Friday November 21, 2014 at 1:00 pm in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Tookiedoo, SC. The family will receive friends following the service.
