CASSATT- Funeral services for Avie Jaunita Cockrell, 79, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Homer Hinson will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and The Shriners Club. Mrs. Cockrell, wife of the late Von Cockrell, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Lottie Hyatt Tidwell. Mrs. Cockrell was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking and the outdoors. Surviving are her sons; Grayson Mike Anderson (Ellen) of Cassatt, Charles Daniel “Danny” Anderson (Ann) of Lugoff, Furman Davy Anderson (Laura) of Elgin, Roger Dale Anderson (Diana) of Cassatt; sisters, Elizabeth Arrants and Zulee Peebles (David); 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Paul, Harold, and Grayson Tidwell; and a sister, Katherine Carraway.
