LUGOFF – A Funeral Mass for Leo Bert Heckel, Jr., 75, will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Rev. Father John Zimmerman will officiate. The Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Heckel died on Friday, March 27, 2015. Born in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Leo B. Heckel Sr. and Elizabeth Kessens Heckel. He graduated from Bellarmine College in Louisville, Ky. And served in the United States Army. Having moved 10 times with DuPont, Mr. Heckel retired in 1998 after 36 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Patricia McCutchan Heckel; daughter, Pamela Skinner of Lugoff; son, Brett Heckel of Santa Clara, Calif.; brother, Robert Heckel (Nancy) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Skinner and Justin Skinner; and great-granddaughter, Alayna Autry.
