LUGOFF – Funeral service for Shag Hinson, 80, will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Stines and the Rev. Billy Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to El-Bethel Faith Community Church, 905 Longtown Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Shag passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015. Born in Lugoff, he was the son of the late John and Mimie Myers Hinson. He was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church. He was known for his carpentry work that he spent his lifetime doing in Kershaw County and surrounding areas. He enjoyed gardening and Blue Grass Music. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Baker Hinson; daughter, Jerri Bryant (David) of Walhalla; sons, Joseph Benny Osment (Dona) of Lexington, John R. Osment of Jacksonville, Fla., Eugene Osment of Lugoff, and Steve Osment (Pam) of Lugoff; step-daughters, Velvet Gantt (Colie) of Lugoff and Valerie Newman of Lugoff; sister, Kathy “Sister” Watts of Lugoff; brothers, Marion Hinson and Clyde Hinson, both of Lugoff; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine Hardin Hinson; a son, Larry Osment; grandson, Christopher Osment; and brothers, Clyburn Hinson, Carl Lee Hinson and Billy Hinson.
