ELGIN- A funeral service for Kenneth Otho White, 82, will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. White passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. Born in Petersburg, IN, he was the son of the late Claude White and Esta (nee Strong) Couch. Mr. White retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service including tours in Panama, Korea and Vietnam. He enjoyed his family and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife, Rita White; children, James Smith (Samantha), Roy Smith (Barbara), Mildred White, Patricia Abbott (Mark), Kitty Kelly (Bruce), Alfred White, and Charles White (Deborah); and numerous grandchildren, great-grands, and great-greatgrands. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth White; grandchild, Kyle Kelly; and a sister, Pansy Young.
