Obituary of Joseph R. Boyce

CAMDEN – Mr. Joseph Roland Boyce (86), husband of the late Eileen Elsie Elston Boyce, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the second of four sons of the late William and Rosalie Kaputa Boyce. Surviving family include his daughter, Jodie Lynn Droniak and husband Gregory Droniak (CT), brother, Bertram Boyce and his wife Sally (NH), brother, David Boyce (FL), and son-in-law, Thomas Anthony (MI); grandchildren, Kimberly and Allison Droniak (CT); several nieces, nephews and cousins in CT, as well as many of Eileen’s relatives in Canada. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Cindy Lee Anthony (MI) and brother, William Boyce (formerly Banyatsky). The funeral service for Mr. Boyce, will be on Thursday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, SC, with burial to follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Reverend Everett Recconu will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on June 4. He earned a Teacher's Certificate from the Connecticut Technical Schools Department. His careers included the position as a Master Printer for the Printers International Association in Connecticut and a licensed builder in South Carolina. He enjoyed renovating homes with his wife, Eileen, of 33 years, history, writing, music, singing, theater, lively conversation, gardening, drinking martinis on his back porch, spending time with family and friends, and looking forward to every new day. Mr. Boyce proudly served our country in both World War II and in the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Military Police, 2nd Marine Division.
