RIDGEWAY – A service to celebrate the life of James Carrol Roberts, 57, will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Blythewood. The Rev. C. Nels Ledwell will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Roberts passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of Mary Catherine Gunter Roberts and the late Vernon Roberts. He formerly pastored in the United Methodist Church and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing rugby and was a member of Columbia Old Gray and served as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn-Cayce Rugby Team. Mr. Roberts served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, enjoyed performing his magic, baking, cooking, and Beekeeping. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Ellen Thompson Roberts; mother, Mary Roberts of Chapin; sons, James Carrol “Jamie” Roberts II (Julie) of Athens, Ga. and Jonathan Andrew “Andy” Roberts (Nancy) of Augusta, Ga.; brother, Rick Roberts (Robin) of Irmo; and sister, Kathryn Hubenthal (Doug) of Bonham, Texas.
