Obituary of Charles Dixon
CASSATT – A celebration of life service for Charles Edward Dixon, 75, will be held Monday at 5:00 p.m.at Bethel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Bethel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Dixon passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Barney Wallace and Evie Parnell Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a manager for 25 years and last surviving founding board member of Cassatt Water Company. Under his leadership the company grew from 75 members to over 10,000 members covering 3 counties in the rural area. He was a fire chief of Shepard community and a member of the Bethune Lions Club. Mr. Dixon was a trustee at Bethel United Methodist Church Bethune and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed traveling, NASCAR racing, and fishing in his lakes and ponds surrounding his home.
Surviving are his wife, Gail West Dixon; daughters, Susan Angerman (Jeff) of Aiken and Wanda Lynn (Gene) of Boiling Springs; brother, Barney Wallace Dixon, Jr. (Gail) of Cassatt; sisters, Annette Gardner of Bethune, Helen Threatt of Cassatt, Frances Caulder (David) of Camden, Eunice Player of Camden; grandchildren, Jessica Britt (Chad), Lynn Nutter (Matt), Jenny Angerman, Breanna Corn, Brinson Edward Corn, Dixon Lee Angerman; and great-grandchildren, Conner Nutter, Matthew Nutter, and Elaine Britt. He was predeceased by sisters, Bonnie Horton, Margaret Shoemake, and Ophelia Hayes.
