Obituary of Wayne Bowers
HANAHAN – Funeral service for Grady Wayne Bowers, 68, will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in St. John United Methodist Church in Springhill. The family will receive friends Wednesday 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
Mr. Bowers passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Reece Quintin and Tyna Catoe Bowers. He served in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Janet Marie Hancock Bowers; children, Ryan H. Bowers of Lugoff, Christy Cromie (George) of Graniteville, Josh Bowers (Ginger) of Camden, and Derrick Elmore (Crystal) of Bishopville; sister, Gayle White of Lugoff; brother, Randy D. Bowers (Mandy) of Lugoff; and 15 grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Bobby Glenn “Dickie” Bowers, Jerry O. Bowers and Reece Bowers Jr.
