Obituary of Louise Chavis Parry
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Della Louise Chavis Parry, 100, will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Malvern Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Everett Reconnu will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Malvern Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund 1514 Malvern Hill Drive, Camden, SC 29020.
Mrs. Parry, wife of the late Clinton L. Chavis Sr., passed away at home on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Born in Pierce County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Tanner and Addie Raulerson Tanner. She retired from Skyline Manufacturing and was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and participating in church activities. She was an expert seamstress and had received numerous awards for her skill.
Surviving are her daughters, Helen C. Ray of Camden and Carolyn C. Phillips of Cayce; son, Joseph R. Chavis Sr. (Sandra) of Camden; step-son, Jimmy Parry; step-daughters, Nancy Becknell and Becky Robinson (Harold); 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her second husband, James Perry; daughters, Martha Joan Connell and Audrey L. Miller; son, Clinton L. Chavis Jr.; step-son, Sonny Parry; sisters, Myra Carpenter, Essie Benton and Edna Hilton; and brothers, Bailey Tanner and Raleigh Tanner.
