Obituary of Martha Branham Crumpton
Elgin – Funeral services for Martha Ray Branham Crumpton, 83, will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin and the Rev. Chris Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, Music Fund.
Mrs. Crumpton, wife of the late Alfred A. Crumpton, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. Born in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late Dewitt T. and Roxie Peake Branham. Mrs. Crumpton was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Harmony Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir. She enjoyed cooking and reading the Bible.
Surviving are her daughter, Fannie C. Hopple (Glenn) of Elgin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Barrett (John); and a brother, Gordon Branham. She was predeceased by brothers, James Murdic Branham, William “Bill” Branham, Caliph “Sam” Branham; and sisters, Lila Cooper and Clara Branham.
The family appreciates the attention and care given to Mrs. Crumpton by Dr. Jeff Hook, and also extends a very special thanks to Mrs. Dot Cornelius for her loving care, friendship, and gift of laughter. Thanks also to the staff of Wildewood Downs Rehab for their care and compassion and to family and friends for their love and support.
