CASSATT – Funeral services for Charles Belton Ray, Sr., 65, will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Cassatt Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Iva Mae Bowers and the Rev. Dean Elliott, will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gum Springs Holiness Church. Mr. Ray passed away Friday, March 11, 2016. Born in Cassatt, he was a son of the late Carlee and Alliene Bowers Ray. Mr. Ray was a member of Cassatt Baptist Church and attended Gum Springs Holiness Church. He enjoyed building and woodworking. Surviving are his son, Charles B. Ray, Jr. (Tami) of Fleming, GA; granddaughters, Candy Walden (Dustin) of Fleming, Ga, Karley Ray of Camden, Leah Ray of Camden; step-grandchildren, Cindy Boatright (Trey), Aaron Bates; great-grandchildren, Leejo, Trey, Andrew, Ryder, Aubree and Alivia; step-great grandchildren, Raylynn and Harper; brothers, Lester “Earl’ Ray Sr. (Wanda) of Cassatt, Carl Matthew Ray (Shirley) of Kershaw; sisters, Etta W. Hall (Tim) of Cassatt, Wanda R. Baker (Randy) of Cassatt, Bobbie Hightower (Alan) of Kershaw, and Lesia A. Rollins (Jeff) of Monroe, N.C. He was predeceased by a son, Wilbert Lee “Leejo” Ray.
