Dear Dina, Butch & Melanie,
Your mother was a spectacular woman who positively influenced so many lives -- but none more poignantly than your own lives. While she may have wished to broaden my calculus horizons, it was my culinary expansion that I remember most fondly. Your mom introduced me to homemade lasagna (during the days you all lived in Fairfield, FL) and white chocolate (during some Revolutionary War reenactment festival in the 90’s in Camden, SC). Listen quietly and ‘Becky’ will still be giving you instructions. Heck, all these years later I can still hear Mrs. Maples’ voice coaching me, teaching me, inspiring me toward my best efforts. She was the eternal educator and for her teachings I will always be grateful. Just like you, I wish I’d had more time with your mom.
Your own warm, gracious and vivid memories with your mom will comfort your hearts during these days and in years to come. Through tears and smiles, I send you my love and support. Heartfelt peace for each of you and for your family members.
