CAMDEN – A celebration of life service for Walter Davis Cain, Jr., 81, will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Camden. Burial will follow at a later date in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Camden. Mr. Cain passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Walter Davis Cain, Sr. and Cecile Ivy Cain. Mr. Cain graduated in 1959 from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Industrial Management. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from DuPont. Mr. Cain was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He enjoyed camping and traveling. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Gunnin Cain; children, Gregory David Cain (Anja) of Wadmalaw Island, Jeffery Lee Cain (Kate) of Chicago, IL, Darlyne Elizabeth Cain of Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Gloria Jeanne Cain of Atlanta, Ga; and grandchildren, Paul Cain, Henry Cain, Juliette Cain, Julius Cain, and Julian Cain.
