Obituary of William Ward Dickey
COLUMBIA – Funeral service for William Ward Dickey, 88, formerly of Camden, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Bruce Marthers will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
Mr. Dickey went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 8, 2013. Born in Bartow, Fla., he was the son of the late Enos Izare and Mary Elizabeth Humphries Dickey. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from the construction industry. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Dickey was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dickey.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Nellie Mae Wilson Dickey; daughters, Deloris Joyner (Don) of Camden, Linda Meeks (Preston) of Centralia, Wash. and Sonya Dickey (Beth Obruba) of Columbia; sons, Bill Dickey (Sandra) of Lugoff and Bob Dickey (Kaye) of Lugoff; brother, Cecil Dickey of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert Dickey, Curtis Dickey and Douglas Dickey; and a sister, Myrtis Pinkney.
