Obituary of Richard Wallace Chase
LUGOFF – A memorial service for Richard Wallace Chase, 87, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Huntsinger and the Rev. David Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Lugoff.
Mr. Chase passed away Friday, June 28, 2019. Born in Aroostook County, Maine, he was a son of the late Wallace and Stella Hudson Chase. Mr. Chase graduated from Mapleton High School in 1951 and joined the U.S. Airforce where he served faithfully until 1960. After leaving the Air Force as a Staff Sargent, he worked for the U.S. Civil Service at Fort Jackson until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Chase was a member of First Baptist Church, Lugoff. He taught an Adult Sunday School Class and served as a Deacon for many years.
Surviving are his wife Anita McLaughlin Chase; daughters, Vicki Ogburn (Tony) of Lugoff, Tanya Black (Michael) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Krista Ogburn, Andrew Ogburn, Kayla Turnage (Brent), Alyssa Melton; a great-grandchild, Tate Black; a brother, Philip Chase; and a sister, Sherry Thibodeau.
