Obituary of Lane Criminger Garity

Lane Criminger Garity, 81, of Camden, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born in Heath Springs, SC, on August 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Bobbie Criminger and the wife of the late John T. Garity, Jr. Mrs. Garity worked as a secretary for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Camden. Mrs. Garity was actively involved in her church, participating in the church choir, lively ones, Altar Guild, Monday Morning Ladies, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She also served her community as a member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity and the Camden Bulldog Club. Mrs. Garity enjoyed knitting, baking, crafts, and above all else, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, John T. Garity, III (Aimee), Joseph P. Garity (Harriet) and Michael S. Garity (Kelly); a daughter, Elizabeth G. Turner (Chris); grandchildren, Meghan Garity, Sean Garity, John Boykin Garity, Sarah Turner, and Seth Turner; her sister-in-law, Carole Criminger; and nephew, Greg Criminger.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Garity was preceded in death by her brother, Linzy Eugene Criminger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Camden, officiated by Father John Zimmerman. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
