ELGIN – Funeral service for Mary-Jo Spears (Commane), 58, will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff The Rev. Bob Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home. Committal service will be held on Thursday at11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Spears passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born on February 19, 1956 in Syracuse, N.Y., she was the daughter of John J. Commane and Leona Carr Commane of Baldwinsville, N.Y. She was a supervisor in the call center of SRC-AETNA. She enjoyed gardening, reading and crocheting. She was a member of Radiant Life Church. Surviving are her husband of 40 years, David A. Spears; children, Brandy Spears of Elgin, Jason Spears of Lugoff and Faye Spears of Elgin; 2 grandchildren, Delaney Spears and Shawn Hunger, both of Elgin; and brothers, John Commane (Carol) of Baldwinsville, N,Y., Michael Commane of Florence, Ky., David Commane of Syracuse, N.Y., and Scott Commane (Lisa) of Liverpool, N.Y.
