During high school "Charlie Pinkerton" was a well- known name; yet Charlie and I did not meet during those years. In Charlie's final years, I had the pleasure of visiting with him and enjoying those times. What a likable and gentle soul. Reminiscing about the 60s and friendships before, at, and after A. C. Flora filled our conversions. We listened to favorite songs from that era, and Charlie remembered all of the words to House of the Rising Sun and some CCR hits. My big dog Buddy looked forward to our drives to see Charlie at Anna's Southwinds in Ridgeway. Anna and others provided a loving home for Charlie. During visits, Buddy was at ease as Charlie patted Buddy's big head and Buddy lay down at his feet. I believe Charlie still recognized beloved classmates' visits when he transferred to McCoy in Bishopville. We continued to listen to special songs and to try to share old times. My life is further blessed by having gotten to know Charlie. He was respected and well loved by those who knew him.
